WELCOME to the season of winter gardening.

Our men on the maintenance side are busy tidying up, dealing with all those leaves and still cutting grass (one of those down sides of global warming!) Once the clearing work has finished and any spring bulbs and bedding planting is completed we will look at the pruning of the larger shrubs, splitting up of herbaceous plants and re-planting. Then the winter digging/forking over of borders will commence, including the mulching of borders with compost from the previous season….. phew! It never stops!

It’s not finished yet you know…. Your lawns are next that need attention.

The winter time is ideal to deal with any low areas, broken lawn edges, tackling that thatch/moss problem, spiking and top dressing. Of course, if all this is too much for you just give us a call, we have the specialist staff to help you.

Our landscapers are just as busy. Apart from our smaller projects we have two full Design and Build schemes on the go, both with unusual water features. When these have been completed we will have some before and after photos (and if all goes to plan one in particular should be spectacular – day and night).

Winter time for landscaping, I believe, is one of the best seasons (apart from the cold fingers and toes). All plant life appreciate a bedding in time., Root systems are still active and get settled in so they can take the drier conditions of the summer months… summer a distance dream at this time of year!

One other job Dagenham Landscapes has for the winter is “night-work”. Yes, that’s right night-work. When you go shopping at the out of town centres, our teams have been out to make the car-parks a safer place! Yes we have been out salting those car-park and path-ways, so hopefully there will be no slip-ups! So you Site Managers, if you have not “sorted” your “salters” yet, you can always ring us before the so called “hardest winter or record arrives….

Keep warm - keep busy….
